Blog Post June 2025
Hi Mamas,
Can we just discuss the joys and riches of peri-menopause?! It seems they just keep on coming and no one prepared us for any of this ๐ญ
Random symptoms and moods, which when they begin seem so unconnected and uncertain that we could not possibly attribute them to peri (like bestie but nowhere near as fun!)
I mean, itchy outer ears due to an increase in hormones is almost funny it is so random. But after experiencing it a few times, tracking it and realizing it occurred each month during ovulation and then Googling it, there it was as a real life symptom of good old peri.
Significantly more painful ovulation, like your body is saying - hello you are running out of time! Come on, get busy! To which I say, no thank you :-)
What else? Acid reflux/indigestion, always fun. Hemorrhoids, again due to hormone increases and fluctuations, possibly the worst of all of these delightful additions to our monthly regime. Mood swings, feeling low low blue and needing to lie on the couch and get lost in TV, being irritated by things that usually do not phase us, and brain fog - like we weren't foggy enough already ๐ And...peri usually lasts several years, so itโs not like we can keep using it as an excuse and get away with it, despite its legitimacy!
For those of you who arenโt there or arenโt acquainted with peri, it is the period of time before your body enters menopause. For most women it can go on for years, and it usually starts in late 30s to early 40s, while we are still in the thick of toddlers, soccer runs, making dinner for the masses every night, and managing work and ourselves on top ๐ณ
Conclusion? I am pretty sure if G-d exists, he is a man.
Have a great week and keep on Be[ing]More.
